A NOTE FROM THE FIRE MARSHAL

Attention commercial, industrial and multi-family residential structure owners! Effective March 13, 2010 Florida Administrative Code 69A-60.0081 will take effect requiring the installation of a placard adopted by rule of the State Fire Marshal indicating the presence of light weight truss construction within the building.  The City of Indian Harbour Beach will comply with the new code as directed by the State Fire Marshal’s Office.  The placard will consist of an 8” x 8” Red Maltese Cross symbol with the letters R, F or both in the center. The letter R in the center indicates a light weight truss roof, the letter F indicates a light weight truss floor and the letters RF would indicate both a light weight truss roof and floor.  These new placards will be provided to the person responsible for the structure as required during the upcoming annual Fire Inspections.  The reason for this new ruling is to enhance firefighter safety by indicating to all responding Fire Department personnel the presence of light weight construction.
