Building Department

The Building Department of Indian Harbour Beach is committed to safeguarding the health, safety, and well-being of our community. We achieve this by enforcing building codes and regulations. We strive to ensure that all construction projects meet the standards for safety and quality as set forth by the Florida Building Code.

The Building Official is tasked with enforcing building codes and regulations, conducting inspections on construction projects, and ensuring compliance with local and state laws. He Is also responsible for issuing permits and certificates of occupancy.

The Administrative Assistant assist the public with building permit applications, provides information about the building permit process.  She also manages administrative tasks such as record maintenance and processing fees.

The Fire Marshal ensures all buildings and structures within the city adhere to fire and life safety standards and codes through permitting and inspections.

NOTICE TO OWNER/BUILDER APPLICANTS:
Owners acting as their own contractors (Owner/Builders), are required to appear in person to submit their permit application. Please call 321.773.3181 for information on the required forms and to schedule your in-office appointment.

We are encouraging all customers to submit their documents in digital format. For online permit applications, all documents can be uploaded directly to the permit application. For Walk-In applications, documents may be submitted on a flash/thumb drive. 

In accordance with Section 166.0451, Florida Statutes, the City of Indian Harbour Beach has determined there are no properties owned by the city or dependent special district within the city limits that are appropriate for use as affordable housing.
